Can someone give Social Media and mobile technology a speeding ticket and tell them to slow down!?

I receive a tweet on my twitter account, (here) that screams with some life threatening urgency, about a new mobile phone or app. Like any other technology enthusiast I rush to get my hands on the latest updates and phones but by the time I have a chance to use the newest technology and apps a whole new collection is released!

Many have debated whether the speed that mobile technology is advancing is beneficial or detrimental to our daily lives. I will pick the former but I can’t help wondering where it will go from here.

Mobile Technology and social media have completely revolutionized the way we do business as well as the way we live our daily lives. Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Yahoo Flickr and Tmblr are just a few of the leaders of the revolution.

When you wake up in the morning, do you check your Facebook, Twitter or email accounts before actually getting out of bed? I know I do and I don’t think there is anything wrong with that!

There is nothing wrong with keeping updated on the latest news or invites or checking how many new followers you have before you throw the covers off. Social Media is global and while you were snoring away the other side of the world was up and online. Those who are not riding the social media and mobile waves better have a good life vest, this is one Tsunami that is not slowing down for anyone.

So how does one handle this technological Tsunami?

You don’t need to download the most advanced IOS when all it does is fix a bug or add a new font for Chinese! You don’t have to be on every single social media site or have every single App out on the market! Remember, technology is here to make our lives easier and not to confuse us.

First define what you need and then define what you want and before you know it you will be riding the waves like a pro.
